Media Gear Mastery Video Series
Media Gear Mastery is a YouTube Channel designed to provide students within the DIGI and Journalism Department at Liberty University with an information, accessible, digestible resource for expanding their knowledge of Student Media Lab equipment outside of classroom instruction.
Media Gear Mastery consists of 3 to 4 episode mini series focusing the equipment most reserved and used by students. Due to its flexibility as a field camera for both journalistic, documentary, and narrative endeavors, the FX3 was selected as the topic of the channels first mini-series.
Sony FX3 Training - Media Gear Mastery
The FX3 Training video is designed to help students achieve three progressive levels of proficiency with the Sony FX3. The end goal is that the student has sufficient technical understanding of the FX3 combined with practical experience to apply its powerful features artistically and creatively.
Sony FX3 Troubleshooting - Media Gear Mastery
The FX3 Troubleshooting video is designed to help students quickly identify and resolve issues resulting from improper, and accidentally misconfiguration of the cameras settings, or from incorrect installation of the lens, top handle or other additional accessories or components.
Sony FX3 Optimizations - Media Gear Mastery
The FX3 Optimization video is designed to provide instruction for configuring the FX3 according to the specific circumstances and application in which the student plans on shooting. These configurations are divided into “Optimizations”, namely, “Journalism”, Balanced, and Quality.
Sony FX3 Recommendations - Media Gear Mastery
The FX3 Recommendation video is designed to provide the student with recommendations for the reservation process as well as pre-pickup protocol. It covers additional additional items based on probable circumstances, and the equipment checking protocol to go through before leaving the Lab after students have received their order.
